Very cool weather is forecast for this weekend, but the massed ranks of Rams fans will head for a pretty cool place on Saturday 19th December to see Derby take on Doncaster Rovers at Pride Park Stadium. It’s an intriguing match between two in-form teams – and the result is difficult to predict. 

The RamsTrust Rendezvous will be in the foyer of the DW Soccerdome before the game as usual, from 11 am until 2:15pm, so you can defrost your extremities before the match, catch up on Rams news and gossip, and buy a programme (only £1 this week if you’re a discount voucher holder).

Donny are currently in excellent form and have proved capable of fine performances in front of big crowds – ask Paul Green, scorer of their Play off final winner before his Derby move. Rams fans can’t dismiss Rovers as a little team without pedigree and assume that 3 more points are assured - check the league table and keep an eye on Billy Sharp.  Donny also did the double over Derby last season, so they’re no pushovers, and unlike the Rams, they’ve come a very long way over the past decade.

More energetic supporters might opt to start out for the game from the unique Christmas Playground at Derby’s Market Place; the club has also invited hardy Rams fans to be part of the “March to the Match” from there, which will feature a kaleidoscope band with Rammie leading supporters from the city centre to the stadium. The club mascot will also have some great giveaways along the way for participating fans.

On arrival at Pride Park, you’ll perhaps be fully warmed up and in good voice, so why not pop into the DW Soccerdome before the kick-off for a wee dram and a taste of the hearty atmosphere that will hopefully carry over into the Stadium during the match?

As Christmas approaches and Derby bid to extend their unbeaten run, it seems that club, fans and team are determined to work together towards a brighter 2010. With all that stuff to provide a full and festive match atmosphere, there’s plenty of encouragement for everyone to roar on the Rams!
