RamsTrust Rendezvous @ Soccerdome - Here We Go Again (x3)!!!
Latest
Saturday, August 08 2009
After a rather low-key close season, Rams fans have the chance to witness the progress made during Nigel Clough’s ‘quiet revolution’ over the past three months as the 2009-10 Championship season gets under way.

Derby County face promoted Peterborough United at home on Saturday, August 8. ‘Son of Clough’ faces ‘Son of Fergie’ - and Posh boss Darren Ferguson has performed miracles in achieving back-to-back promotions. It’s up to the Rams to ensure that United’s momentum is halted and to kick off this season in better style than the frustrating home flop last August to another promoted side, Doncaster Rovers.

The club has declared Saturday to be “Lionel Pickering Day” as another nod to Derby’s heritage is fulfilled, with a new monument dedicated to ex-Chairman Lionel in the form of the Baseball Ground entrance, which is now in position at Pride Park Stadium, near the ticket office.

The RamsTrust Rendezvous will be in position too on Saturday in the foyer of the JJB Soccerdome to usher in the new season! We commence our seventh season of the popular fans’ meeting point as the matchday atmosphere builds up to the big kick off.

We’ll be there from 11.00 am until 2:15 pm and we’d love to share your views of how the new season will unfold. The RAM Magazine matchday programme will be on sale from us and it’s an 84-page special with a feature commemorating the contribution of Lionel Pickering to the club he loved.

We will have our usual fans’ fayre of Derby County footage on DVD with the Rams-related merchandise on offer as well. Top seller is Kevin Moore’s CD of Derby County songs for the Nigel Clough era but we have some exclusive Rams cartoon prints too, created by Kev’s partner Miki and produced in the form of an August-to-August calendar. They’ll look great on any Derby fan’s wall!

Don’t forget the popular ‘Derby ‘Til I Die’ book written by the fans, for the fans or the great DVD and books range for you to purchase. All the revenue goes into supporting the running costs of your trust.

Good luck too, to Burton Albion on Saturday on their debut in the Football League after promotion! They visit Shrewsbury Town, managed by former Derby winger Paul Simpson. Brewers’ manager Paul Peschisolido is a former Pride Park Stadium favourite and has a sprinkling of ex-Rams rallying to his cause. Assistant Gary Rowett plus Marc Edworthy, Kevin Poole and Paul Boertien are helping Peschi in his bid to keep the Brewers rolling forwards.

We all want to see Derby and Burton get off to good starts. The Rams can get on the front foot by polishing off the Posh at Pride Park Stadium on Saturday. Kick-off the new season with us at the JJB Soccerdome at lunchtime on Saturday!

See you there!
Dave and Paul Mortimer
