There must be many people who are going out to South Africa who are wondering what they can do in the days between games. Although there are currently many tickets available for all games it is possible that fans may want to see something more of the fabulous country they are visiting.

Supporters Direct chief welcomes manifesto pledges on fan ownership, praises MUST

Dave Boyle, the chief executive of Supporters Direct, the organisation that works with football fans' groups to help them acquire shares and influence at their clubs, has today welcome the unprecedented inclusion in the Labour and Conservative election manifesto documents of proposals on supporter ownership.

SD reacts to political football

Reports in The Guardian today (more detail from Owen Gibson and commentary from David Conn) suggests that the Government are looking at radical proposals to give fans a right-to-buy their clubs and enabling them to take a 25% stake in the club. They also say that the government wants to see the powers of the football authorities beefed up to give them more power to veto takeovers of clubs which are not in the club's interests nor that of the supporters nor the wider game.
